Custom Collection display in Library View not working

Server: Version 1.40.0.7998

Default Collection behavior on my Movies library is for the items to show and the collection itself to be hidden, and then I have some specific collections that I set custom behavior with. Like I have eight Batman movies, so I put them all into a collection and have that displaying in my library to cut down on scrolling needed when browsing. Same with my James Bond movies.

Suddenly the custom Collection display preferences are not being respected. All my movies are showing when I am in Title view, instead of the collections that are set to hide their items doing so. So, I’m seeing all the Batman movies individually now, along with other collections I made to “collapse” down the library a bit. The is on the hosted Plex web app (app.plex.tv), the local IP login web interface, Windows app, and Android (mobile and my Fire Stick).

I’ve discovered that if I change the library’s default behavior to “Hide Items that are in Collections” this makes those libraries set to hide items work again, and collections set to “show items but hide the collection” still work (ex: I have the Bad Boys trilogy and Back to the Future films in collections for each fanchise, and they still show their movies, as the custom settings say). Also using “show this collection and its items” setting for the Collection also worked correctly here, when I had the library default to hide the items.

I then tried changing the Library setting to “Show Collections and their Items” as the default behavior. The Batman flicks are staying hidden now and only showing the Collection poster, as their own Collection custom setting says to do.

So, it is only when the Library’s advanced setting say to “Hide Collection but Show Items” as the default behavior and the Collection itself is set to override this and do the opposite that the issue occurs.
