"Hide items in a Collection" in library only partially working

So I’m simply attempting to simply hide items in my Library when they are a part of a Collection. So far, I’ve tried:

  1. Setting a global setting for my library to ‘Hide items which are in collections’.
  2. Changing Individual Collections. Edit Collection --> Collection Mode ‘Hide items in this collection’.

My Library display is ‘By Title’.

For a couple collection (Fast and the Furious, Twilight), it is working correctly and all individual movies are hidden from the library.

For another collection (Cars), Cars 2 and Cars 3 are hidden but Cars 1 is still displaying in the library.

For all my other Collections, the individual items are still being displayed.

Any thoughts on a fix?

Is this behavior the same in both the Plex Web app on the server, as via https://app.plex.tv/, and in a different player device?

Is Cars 1 a member of multiple Collections?

Yes, the behavior is the same across applications between the server web app, my phone app, and LG TV app.

Yes, Cars 1 is a member of multiple collections.
Cars 1, 2, and 3 are both in a “Cars” collection set to ‘Hide items’ and “Pixar” collection set to ‘Hide items’. Cars 1 is also in a “Tom Hanks” collection that is set to ‘Hide Collection’.

When I changed the Pixar collection settings to turn off ‘Hide items’, then Cars 2 and 3 reappeared. So perhaps the Multiple Collections are conflicting.

However, there are other items in a single Collection that are also not responding to Collections ‘Hide Items’.

Any other suggestions regarding this issue?

Not much you can do…
There’s a relatively long standing feature suggestion to change the “hiding items” behavior for collections (e.g. let “hide” take precedence over showing items). You can vote for it and hope Plex will at some point implement it.
