DDNS setup with Plex

My ISP has been changing my IP address quite often and it has been messing with my remote access. I am a PlexPass user and would like to use a DDNS service to get around the changing IP address issue (my ISP has informed me they do not support a static IP for residential).

How can I use a DDNS name instead of an IP address for Plex remote access?

Do you have your ports forwarded correctly in your router??

Technically Plex uses a built in DDNS. It reaches out to the plex cloud server which logs your IP address and stores it in the cloud. Then your clients reach out to the same cloud server and sees what your IP address is and tries to access it. You may need to restart your docker at regular intervals to make sure plex reaches out to update the ip address, perhaps once every night or something.

Personally, I don’t use any of that. I have an ASUS router which gives me a free DDNS address. For example example.asuscomm.com is my DDNS address. My Asus router regularly reaches out to the DDNS server and updates the ip address. I also port forwarded 32400 to the internal ip address of my plex server, 192.168.1.x. When I log into plex, I just type in example.asuscomm.com:32400 into my web browser and plex always comes up.
