Debian 12 hardware trancoding?

Hi guys.

Im want to know if Debian 12 and PMS supports hw transcoding “out-of-the-box” ?

Or do I need to install 3rd party drivers etc? Im on an Intel NUC 10gen.

Thanks :slight_smile:

You always have to install the Nvidia proprietary drivers.

Ok thanks @ChuckPa :slight_smile:

But why Nvidia ? I thought Intel NUCs was using some other drivers for Qsync? Or am I missing something?

@ChuckPa

plex@debby:~$ lspci -nn | egrep -i “3d|display|vga”
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation Comet Lake UHD Graphics [8086:9bca] (rev 04)

Should I install the Nvidia drivers for this?

@Morphy

The smaller NUCs obviously don’t get Nvidia cards or drivers.

The bigger NUCs (Ghost Canyon, Dragon Canyon, etc) are very capable of having Nvidia or AMD cards installed.

  1. Ghost Canyon (I have this NUC)
  1. Dragon Canyon

Per your question

If using Intel Quick Sync Video , everything is included with PMS and the base OS (i915 + Intel Iris XE interface)

Cheers @ChuckPa

Your help and assistance is always appreciated.

Works flawlessly .

Thanks
