Debian Based Plex - DVR Fails to save .ts streams

Server Version#: 1.16.3.1433
Player Version#: 3.104.2

After updating from version 1.6 to version 1.16 recordings are no longer completing. A few question to debug the issue.

  1. What level logging should i enable?
  2. What log files contain detailed recording information?
  3. What key words should i grep to identify the issue?

Current symptoms
I schedule a new recording and I see the stream start to record in the .grab folder. After a few minutes to stream stops recording and the file is gone. I check the tuner status and the stream is no longer active.

Turn on Debug but not verbose, these two docs should help.

The .grab folder will go to location you have specified for the TV Library, check permissions, plex user should have read, write, execute.

I watched a few recordings fail this evening. Below are pertinent log entries of the failure and commands showing the file was there in the correct directory with the correct permissions.

Possible causes?

I see a similar issue when I upgraded to 1.17.0.1709 (not sure what version I had before).

Running plex on my Synology NAS. File is not there (ends up in #recycle where I assume it was put after Plex deleted it). If I move the file from #recycle it plays just fine.

Depending on which version you started from you were probably hit with this:

Yeah, I was hit with that when I upgraded to 1.15 a few weeks ago. It was all resolved. Now when I upgraded to 1.17, I’m getting different behavior.

The weird thing is that I can see it writing into .grab, but after some point the file disappears and then I see writes going to the .grab folder in the #recycle folder. It continues to write/capture until the show is over, but because the file is in #recycle instead of the original location the server fails to copy the file to the final destination.
