Right now I use Madsonic and Dsub for streaming my music library to my phone. It just works better than the Plex Android app, and this is understandable since Dsub is a dedicated music app. I think Plex can take most of what they already have and add the bells and whistles that a normal music player would have. Basically I think Plex should keep audio and video separate on their mobile platforms. I think Plexamp was a step in the right direction, but obviously that is just for Windows/Mac.
Yes please!

Plex is analogous to iTunes Match.
Nothing hinders to make a normal user-friendly player. It can be simply copied from iTunes.

Yes, I’d love to see something like PlexAmp for iOS that supports gapless playback, and the fading between songs!
For iOS, there’s a new app called Prism that is a dedicated music app for Plex. It has a crazy powerful smart playlist system and is actively being developed. The developer is very open to feature requests and bug reports.
(I have nothing to do with the app other than being a beta tester)
Let me add another 3rd party APP recommendartion. “Glider” for IOS and supported PMS. Allows you to play locally as well as via airplay / chromecast. Active development and open for feature requests.
(same here, no affiliation on my end)
Any suggestions for Android, like Prism or Glider?
yep, kinda good question
Try Yatse works very well and supports Android Auto
FYI, there is a new 3rd party iOS app that is pretty nice: https://prism-music.app/
At this point Plex should just buy Prism, it’s pretty much perfect as a client.
Totally missed this one making my recent post. I completely agree with this. Music is enough of a UX separation that it deserves a separate application. Also DSub is the best music client ever made.
Implemented with the newly released PlexAmp 3.0 (available on iOS/Android/macOS/Windows/Linux).
