I’m just playing around with Plex and alternatives, in the UK, for a complete Freeview / Freesat DVR replacement - and love the Discover feature. Only issue is that the deep links don’t work on a (brand new) LG TV. I’ve got this to work on a firestick for another non-smart TV, by sideloading the Android app, but on the new LG TV it just states links aren’t supported.
Other apps such as JustWatch DO support the deep links on LG - so what’s the reason they can’t be implemented on the Plex LG App?
AFAIR the early days of discover being released deep links worked everywhere, then Plex started to be told to turn it off as various ecosystems started to lock down.
I guess so. Such a shame - as it makes it so much more usable. And seems a shame to use an external stick on a brand new telly where all the apps are up to date and very quick! It would make it a poor mans Sky Stream… which is a very expensive option just to get a slick user interface… but wife friendly!
