I am attempting to find out if a fully functional Discover feature is going to be rolled out to other platforms. Yes, I have the list of supported platforms. But the list of devices it is fully functional on is very, very small. Which if fine for a beta. But, I can’t find anything at all of work being done to bring it to full functionality on the other platforms.
Does anyone know? Because it is a killer feature that is practically useless right now due to such limited support.
By that I mean I have never once actually used a device that was able to open a stream, except for web and I don’t count that as it is never something I would use as a client. Most say that it isn’t supported and you to manually go find the app, find whatever etc… To me this is not useful. Is there any work being done to support opening the corresponding application and correctly playing the requested stream from the Plex client on more devices? Personally I really want it to work with the HTPC client.
It’s a really cool feature. I am eager to build a HTPC with Plex with this feature. If it’s never going to be supported in that capacity on any other devices than currently listed than I can stop waiting for Plex and move on to something else.
Seriously I’ve been waiting forever for someone to make a feature like this.
Amazon and Roku devices do not deeplink because Amazon and Roku do not allow us to do so. Our apps failed app store approval in those until we removed the ability from them.
The HTPC app would only at best be able to open the browser on your computer like Web which then would not be able to be controlled by the remote being used for HTPC which mostly defeats the purpose of using the HTPC app instead of desktop.
