Unable to delete media on Plex running on nVidia Shield

I’m setting up Plex Server on a nVidia Shield for a friend. The libraries are on a USB drive formatted in exFAT (so no file permissions) attached to the Shield. Everything is working except I can’t delete any files from within Plex. I have gone to the server settings and made sure the option to delete media is enabled.
I’ve also tried to delete media via Plex in a web browser and I get an error that the file can’t be deleted.
Any ideas as to what’s going on?

Never mind.
Gave up and installed Kodi.
