When I attempt to go to the server in a web browser: http://synologyip:32400/web
It comes up and asks me to login with my Plex account, and then it just goes to the standard Plex screen. I don’t see an option to claim the server anywhere.
I uninstalled and re-installed the Plex package but this didn’t help.
After I install the Plex app on the Synology NAS, it gives me a link to access the server. I can go to that link, and I login with my Plex account. However, unlike before, I do not see my server anymore. The only settings available are my account settings and PLEX WEB settings. By the standard Plex screen, I’m referring to the default Plex home screen. Except now, there is no mention of my server or the library that is still there.
I can see in the new logs that even though I explicitly reset the permissions as you described, and ensured that Plex has the required access, it still is getting permission denied errors.
I have still exactly same issues. Followed the recommendation to the point, but can’t get back Synology server to authorized devices. And thus still stuck with the message “Media server not found. The server you’re trying to access doesn’t seem to exist.”.
So frustrated…
I have two Synology DS916+ NAS. They both exhibit the same behavior. After I removed them from ‘Authorized Devices’ in my Plex account, I can’t get them back. I went so far as to uninstall the package, delete the Plex folder, delete the plex user, reboot the NAS, and reinstall Plex. None of this works. I can get to the Plex server through my web browser (http://synologyip:32400/web), and I can login to my Plex account, but the servers are not there anymore.
When the servers are removed from the Authorized Devices,
The only way for the server to come back into the account is:
The server must restart
The server must be associated with your account.
Uninstalling the Synology package (but keeping user Plex and the Plex share) doesn’t change anything. All the necessary information is stored down inside the Plex share in the Preferences.xml file.
If, however, any of that has been disturbed (erased / modified / etc ) then we have to re-authenticate it.
This is simple, but detailed and all steps must be performed in sequence – WHILE – still meeting the setup requirements.
Expected conditions:
On the same LAN subnet. Not remote to it; Not using Synology remote desktop; LAN subnet is RFC-1918 compliant (192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x, or 172.16.x.x-172.31.x.x)
Ah, so that’s what it was. I have my servers and workstations in separate VLANs. I put my workstation in the server VLAN and was able to add both Synology NAS boxes back to my Plex account. Thanks very much for your help guys and have a happy new year.
