Deleted Scenes for TV Shows

Server Version#: 1.21.1.3876
Player Version#: 4.49.2

I am trying to get the deleted scenes for The Office (US) loaded but I can’t get the system to recognize the files. I am using the local files site but any method I try isn’t working. For example, I have tried the below methods and nothing is coming in:

MEDIA/tv/The Office (US) - S01E01-deleted
MEDIA/tv/The Office (US)/Deleted Scenes/The Office (US) - S01E01
MEDIA/tv/The Office (US) - S01E01/Pilot-deleted

If someone can provide some insight where my naming convention is wrong, that would be appreciated.

Plex does not support local extras for tv shows.
You can organize those as “specials” or give them high episode numbers inside their season of origin… this will give you the option to manually enter some metadata.

There’s a feature suggestion to allow the addition of local extras for tv-shows (which I’m personally very much hoping will be implemented).

From what I remember there’s also a 3rd party agent that allows to find local extras for tv-shows that match the same schema as local extras for movies. Those will show in some Plex apps but not on all levels (show/season/episode) and not in all apps!

I see. There are so many posts about it not being available but I thought those might be outdated. The link I have needs to be updated to state that it is only for movies. They have the example at the top of the page that shows TV shows which makes you think that it applies.

Same problem here - ripping my DVD collection and looking for a simple way to include the extra material, specifically deleted scenes.

If anyone in plex is reading this, using high episode numbers is a poor “solution”, as it is impossible to relate the deleted scenes to the relevant episode. I would sure appreciate a solution.

The new tv-show scanner/agent supports local extras for Shows, seasons and episodes. It’s currently available for testing (beta) as part of the latest server releases (PMS v1.22).

i got everything updated to the newest version and upgraded the library. The extras are still not populating. Does the require Plex Pass for it to find the titles on it’s own?

Version 1.22.3.4392

From all I’ve seen you won’t need a Plex Pass.
How did you name/organize those extras and what client are you using to look for them? Keep in mind not all clients can show extras on all tiers of the tv-show (I believe that’s still only the Plex clients on iOS and Android). Plex Web will e.g. only show the show-level extras.

I was using the web client to check and see if it went in and it is not showing on there (version 4.56.3).

I just pulled it up on my android phone (version 8.16.0.24423 (04921805)) and they are showing on there. Although it is being a bit odd since the season 1 extras are showing in the season 2 files.
Ex. ‘The Office (US) - S01E02-deleted’ is displayed under the Season 2 menu.
I have season 2 extras going in now and i imagine they might end up showing under the season 3 menu. Not sure if this is a bug or if i put something in incorrectly.

Try using the naming methods here. They have worked for me, but maybe just dumb luck on my part.

And yeah, where and if they appear depends on the app, a few bugs to be worked out.

With that naming, the file should be recognized as an extra for episode 1x02. That is assuming you have that episode named exactly like that… The Office (US) - S01E02.ext.

For season-level extras use either a dedicated extra-type folder or just name them inline with this season.
Example:

TV Shows <- the folder linked to your tv-show library
  The Office (US)
    Season 01
      Season Bloopers-behind.ext
      Trailers
        TV Trailer.ext
        DVD-Trailer.ext

As for the inline suffix or extra-type folder names, follow the guide from the link posted by @leelynds

The local extras for seasons or episodes only show on the home page for the series, not from with in a season or episode level in the web app. I didn’t check too closely, but I believe they are all there, just not where we might expect or want them to show up.

That sounds wrong… as far as I can tell, Plex Web is only showing show-level extras while the extras for seasons and episodes are simply not displayed.

At some point I’ve been using the 3rd party agent to experiment with local extras… I believe there’s still 1-2 extras stuck in one of my shows from that time that I’ll need to clean-up somehow. – not sure if you might have run into a similar situation…

Can you verify those season extras you see in Plex Web are actually assigned as season extras (e.g. using Plex on iOS or Android)?

You’re right! I never checked the actual file names I had used, but the couple of series I checked seemed to show the correct amount of extras (trailers) in Plex Web I remember adding. That was cause I have “download extras if available” enabled, so the total was correct, the source was not. After checking the actual files, only the show-level extras are indeed showing.

In any event, it’s hard to know what to expect, when all of the apps are not yet at the same level. Android mobile works at all levels, Android TV is only at the show level.
