Hi, so recently I have been trying to get Plex to detect some deleted scenes for a TV Show. I have followed the official guide (https://support.plex.tv/articles/local-files-for-trailers-and-extras/) and have used both the inline and subdirectory methods, and Plex hasn’t detected anything. I have restarted Plex(if that means anything), refreshed metadata and scanned library, made “local media assets” the highest in the “Agents” page. I’m out of things to try at this point! Any help would be much apprecieated.
It isn’t mentioned in that help page, but I’m pretty sure that feature is only supported in Movie libraries, not TV.
See Plex Docs -> Your Media -> TV Shows (Naming & Organizing) -> Naming and Organizing Your TV Show Files -> Television Specials
As @beckfield mentions, Plex does not support the movie extras structure for TV shows.
Instead, use the Season 00 / Specials folder.
Look up the show on TheTVDB.com. Use unused Specials for any of your extras that are not listed.
For example, Game of Thrones has 55 episodes in Season 00 / Specials.
Add any additional extras starting with episode 56: /TV/Game of Thrones/Season 00/Game of Thrones - s00e56 - Deleted Scenes.ext
.
Plex will not pick up the episode name from the file name. It will display the episode number (i.e. “Episode 56,” not “Deleted Scenes”).
Plex will read and display the episode name from MP4 containers if you have the correct embedded metadata and Local Media Assets enabled (the same as it does with movies).
There’s actually two related feature suggestion to extend local extras support to tv shows:
note to self: those 2 might need to be merged…
Edit: we have just consolidated both suggestions into 1
