‘demote’ a home user?

At some point I added a friends account to my Plex and Sid “add to home” Is there anyway to undo this (the add to home part) without removing the account and all history? I just want him to show up in the ‘Friends’ section instead of in the ‘home’ section, bit as far as I can tell in the UI this is a on-way toggle that cannot be undone.

If it cannot be done via the UI, how about through the database itself?

Assuming it’s not a managed user, removing them from the Home will automatically move them to Friends list.

If they have their own Plex.tv account, when you remove them from your Plex Home they will be moved to a Friend.

How I tested:

  1. I have a test account tied to another e-mail address.
  2. I invited the test account to my Plex Home.
  3. Accepted the invite using the test account.
  4. I removed the test account from my Plex Home, and it appeared as a friend under “Manage Library Access.”

This should be much clearer. ‘x’ general means ‘delete’ and there’s no indication that clicking that will not completely remove the person from your plex server. Since accidentally doing this purges the watch history, this is not something that I would ‘test’. Perhaps a mouse over “Will move this user to Friends list” and or a down arrow instead of an X.

To be fair, it only says “Remove from Plex Home.” I agree that this could be much clearer, whether in the tooltip or elsewhere. I’ve searched the Help articles and I can’t find this clearly explained anywhere.

There is a mouse over text, yes, but, the mouseover text is not clear. The UI is not clear. One could easily read it that clicking that ‘x’ will remove the user entirely from the server.

In the Non-Admin Member section of How do I leave a Plex Home?:

Tip! : Even after leaving a Plex Home, you will still remain Friends with the admin and existing library access will remain.

That’s good to know. But that tip would fit just as well on the Plex Home page:

Or maybe it’s time to start adding links to corresponding Help pages from the various pages in Plex Web.
