My intro detection is running very slow. I have fully restarted my PC and made sure my PMS is on the newest version.
For an example of the speed, my server has been analyzing season 1 of Futurama for about 8 hours and is less than 50% done. Task manager shows that very little CPU, GPU and HD resources are being used.
I anticipated the library taking a long time, but to test things out I chose to analyze only Futurama season one manually. It should only be scanning 9 episodes, which it has been doing all day.
Also, the fact that my system resources usage doesnāt increase noticeably makes me think something is stuck.
Apparently that function doesnāt benefit from the Nitrous Injection fitted for VPTs.
(and Iām VERY familiar with what happens during an audio analysis with Xmedia Recode - and letās just say itās Warp Drive capabilities are non-existent. Impulse only and we canāt get away from anybody like thatā¦lol)
Having some experience in āaudio analysisā I can say when thatās going on you donāt want anything else going on. I recently found out what happens when Subtitle Edit is in an OCR and Xmedia Recode is in an audio analysis⦠a fist fight broke out on the desktop between the two, a crowd gathered to watch it, 'cause there sure wasnāt anything else going onā¦
If your conversion queue is paused it will also pause the Detect Intro queue. I resumed that queue and it took about one minute to process the season. Not sure why I was slowly seeing progress before, but now it works like a dream!
Same issue here. It has been stuck detecting intros on the same season for the last 3 hours. I do not see anything in the conversions tab that I could resume. I tried to force push it by hitting āanalyzeā but now it is showing āDetecting introsā twiceā¦
Still not even halfway through the same 13 episode season 30+ hours later⦠Any advice? This worries me about any future intros detection once this season is finally done processing too.
Iām having the same issue. Running PMS on a QNAP NAS. Kicking off a manual analyze doesnāt result in an noticeable uptick in CPU usage. Takes a few hours before an orange sliver of the progress circle appears. The feature does appear to be working. It just tries to use so little CPU that it takes days for 1 season of any show.
Disabling transcoding is slowing down intro detection! With transcoding enabled it only takes a minute for a season. If I disable transcoding in the server settings it takes multiple hours for just one season!
I dont wanna keep that POS plex transcoder with its lacking HDR support and low quality defaults on for longer than I need, so hopefully this will be sorted.
I find it crazy that you still cant enable the transcoder for just yourself and your home users, but have to turn it off entirely if you dont want your shared users using it.
Hey so I am having the same issue and also run on a QNAP NAS. For me the solution was to uncheck the box āDisable video stream transcodingā under the āTranscoderā menu. Then I restarted the Plex service and had it re-analyze a single season of a show and now the detecting intro job is finally making progress.
I have tried all these suggestions, yet nothing I have tried has had any impact on the scanning speed. With the way it is working now, scanning all 258 shows in my library will take approx. 10 years.
I run PMS on Synology.
One thing I would like to see added to this feature is the ability to select a show at the season level and have the option to ānot scan for intros during a scheduled taskā as my server has been scanning Killing Eve for about 4 days now even though I know the intro on that show is less than 20 seconds.
Thanks. Enabling Transcoding does resolve the speed issue. Wish there was a way to tweak it a bit. The detection process pegs the CPU in my QNAP TS-251 at 100% for the duration of the detection. Would prefer to be able to set it at a less aggressive pace and chew up only 50% CPU and take a bit longer.
The server itself really should be able to use the transcoder for such tasks, even if its dissabled for the users. Right now, we pretty much have to choose between introskipping or having our servers molested.
Iāve had it running for like 2 hours now. It just seems slow. Itās gone through a few of my showsā¦but I have like 200+ shows. Seems like this is gonna be a lengthy progress.
I have started a new thread, specifically for the issue with āDisable video transcodingā and the intro detection operation (and maybe more) being extremely slow:
