I’ve been monitoring this about a week or two and the overnight analysis gets stuck on some files when Plex says it’s “detecting intros”.
I noticed a high load on my fileserver starting at 4 a.m. and ending at 6 a.m. every night, so I figured it had to do with Plex, as that is when the scheduled tasks take place.
I logged the locked files during that time of high load, and sometimes Plex gets stuck on a single video file for those two hours, and sometimes it doesn’t let go. The high load continues until I restart the Plex service.
It doesn’t seem to discriminate on a specific video filetype, and the file sizes are anything from 200 MB to under 1 GB, so two hours should be plenty of time to process the audio and detect intros.
I was wondering maybe if detecting intros gets stuck on a file, there would be a timeout on when it should close the file and move on. I’d prefer it if some intros fail in a way that it can move on with the analysis and doesn’t get stuck on a file causing a high load either.
I could collect some logs if needed, if I’m pointed in the right direction!
