Devices not getting signed out when changing password

I removed all of the authorized devices and changed the password. But somehow the people that were using my account are still able to access my server like nothing changed at all. Anyone ever had this happen?

Did you check the box to sign out connected devices?

Yes I did. All the devices in my house got signed out so I thought it worked but. 3 ppl were watching after I changed it like nothing happened.

removing devices and changing password does not remove the plex tokens from the device that are used to log in to the plex server

Finding an authentication token / X-Plex-Token

If you change your password and select “sign out of connected devices” it should:

  • Unclaim your server
  • Invalidate current authentication tokens
  • Create a new authentication token when you login and re-claim your server.

The next time a managed user tries to access your server, they will be presented with a login screen (since the cached token is no longer valid). If they do not know the new password, they will not be able to login and stream from your server.

Suggestion:

Repeat the process. However, first find your current X-Plex Token and copy it to a text file. Then change your password & select the “sign out..” box. After you re-claim your server, check the new X-Plex Token and make sure it is different from the old one.

If the token does not change or if managed users can still access your server, then post back to the thread. A Plex employee will have to look at your account details to see what is happening.
