Difficulty adding "unrated" collection

I’m trying to create a partner collection to one I was able to create before to show movies each visitor had rated: “Movies You’ve Rated”. I was able to create that Smart Collection by choosing “Rating –> Is Not” and leaving the stars blank. Works perfectly.

I am now trying to create a collection of “unrated” movies to entice visitors into rating them, but selecting “Rating –> Is“ and leaving the stars blank does not work. It is removed as a filter criteria when saving the collection.

I also tried a filter group that had rules for “Rating –> Is Not” with each of the 10 possible star values. That did not work either.

The default state of the “Rating > is” filter is “unset”, meaning that while it displays 0 stars, it’s not actually filtering to unrated items. You have to explicitly interact with the star ratings in order for the filter to actually be applied:

Interesting. I noticed that behavior when I created the collection but it didn’t save for some reason. I went back in and it worked correctly this time.

Chalk this up to a ID10T user error.
