Direct Play issue with HDhomerun cable-tv device

RoKu settings: Local Quality: Original, Remote Quality 8Mbs 4k, Direct Play Auto, Allow Direct Stream is checked, Max H.264 level Auto

If I play live-tv content from Plex player on my LG TV, works fine, or on my Mac.
But on Roku, It gives me a PlayBack Error, App cannot direct play this steam. Direct play is disabled…

Setting direct play option to Auto, Force, or Disable make no change in error message.

I’m assuming (and possibly incorrectly) that your streams are going to be MPEG2? If so, do you have MPEG2 enabled on the Roku Plex client? Of course, if you don’t have direct play forced, it should just transcode…

They seem to be H.264 streams when they are recorded… no option on RoKu to select format that I’m aware of…

again, I have tried direct: Auto, Force and Disable…
