Quick question - I am streaming 4k file to Nvidia Shield ( I have 2 on the same 1Gbs local network) and when I stream the same exact 4K file, one Nvidia Shield does Direct Play and the 2nd Nvidia shield does transcode or direct stream but never Direct PLay ??? What gives? Both Nvidia Shields are exactly the same on the same network which has more than enough bandwidth??? The Plex Server runs on latest iMac (2019) on the same network with 48GB of RAM
I am really at a loss here as I would like to direct play all of my files i.e. don’t want to transcode nor Direct Stream. Is there a setting that forces Direct Play at all times ?
I have it off (i.e. left blank) which means that If left blank, only the server’s subnet is considered to be on the local network. Both Nvidia shield devices are on the same subnet and should be performing the same. What is even more odd is that the it doesn’t matter which Nvidia Shield I start to play the 4K content on, only one of the (always the same one!) does either transcode or direct stream but the other one always does Direct Play ???Very bizarre…
