Server Version#: 1.32.0.6973
Player Version#: Latest Shield Plex version
Server is a Windows 11 machine on the local area network. TV is a 1080p Samsung. Network is hard-lined.
I’m curious why an Nvidia Shield Pro (2019) on my local network would Direct Stream instead of Direct Play. Direct Streams means, “incompatible file container”.
I’m testing with normal 720p and 1080p mkv (x264) files. I understand 4k stuff can get tricky, but I thought the Shield Pro (2019) is basically the most powerful device for Plex and can handle everything … why can’t it Direct Play mkvs?
It’s usually Direct Streaming both the video and audio.
I only have a soundbar hooked up via optical, so I understand when audio transcodes sometimes, but I don’t understand why it isn’t Direct Playing most video.
An AppleTV hooked up to the same TV Direct Plays all video and most audio.
I’ve searched and I think all my settings are what they should be but no matter what I only get Direct Stream. What am I missing?
