I’ve been using an Nvidia Shield Pro for about a year now with plex no issues, but recently purchased an additional normal version Nvidia Shield for a different TV in my home that has been troublesome. I nailed down one problem tonight. Both devices are connected over 5G wifi. The pro is playing the file via DirectPlay smoothly. The normal shield is playing the same file via transcoding and has to buffer every minute or so while also causing a huge strain on my pc CPU. I couldn’t determine how to force direct play on the device, but the menu said that direct play failed, so it fell back to transcoding. While composing this post I see that the devices have different player versions 8.x vs 9.x. What happening in this version change to break the playback of this particular video type? Is there something I can do to fix?
** Also, in that photo I’m not sure what the [V] means next to SHIELD living room ?
I can provide logs if someone tells me which are useful to include and how. I’m not entirely sure.
