Disable Updates

Server Version#: 1.24.3.5033
Player Version#: 1.33.0.2444-a220eae4

Is there some way to turn off the updates on the Desktop Player for Plex? It updates every single day, which is exhausting when I just want to play some content.

Release updates once a week, or once a month. Or enable some sort of auto-update so it’s always up to date.

There haven’t been daily updates in… I don’t even remember if that’s ever been a thing.
If your app tries updating on a daily basis, it seems something goes wrong with those updates.

Can you try manually updating the Plex for Windows app to version 1.35.1 to see if that stops this behavior? You can download that version from the Plex download page:

Yeah let me manually update to the latest. It seems to update just fine, runs the install, then loads Plex.

What in the world. I updated plex manually by installing the new version. It was 1.35. Then I closed it, did some stuff, then relaunched it. It was 1.33. I looked into it.

I had installed Plex to c:\program files\Plex. Plex when it was updating itself, was installing to c:\program files\Plex\Plex. But my shortcuts were always pointing to the original location. so every time it would see it was out of date, then install an update to an unused folder.
