So, this question may be met with responses of “… but why?” but I am trying to find out if there is a way to turn off the display of the seekprint/waveform in Plexamp.
My case is that I just prefer the cleaner look of the straight line.
I can’t seem to find any options to turn it off, so I suspect it doesn’t exist. Is there any consideration at all to adding it as an option?
I recently restored my server and for some reason some of the settings didn’t carry over. I had previously had “Analyze audio tracks for loudness” set to “never,” but it was set as a scheduled task after my restore and it took me a little while to notice and turn it off. The result is now that some of my tracks have a seekprint but many still do not. I would prefer to just not have it display, but as far as I know there is no way to delete the loudness analysis once it has been done (right?)… unless someone knows how to do that…
I suppose I get your point about preferring the cleaner look (based on your personal perception). Media analysis is contributing to a number of features… not just the visualization of the seekprint. Hence I would probably prefer PMS to do the analysis anyway.
Well… if you ever run out of features or options to add to Plexamp…
You (and many others) may not share my opinion, but you get where I am coming from, right? To borrow a picture from a Plexamp How To thread on these forums, here’s an exmaple of when the Seekprint just looks cluttery to me:
Many of the tracks in my library that completed the analysis don’t appear quite this “full,” but it still just looks so out of place to me.
I’m surprised that there isn’t already an option to turn the seekprint off/on, given how many other appearance customization options Plexamp has and how strong the visual style is overall. I hope that doesn’t sound like a jab at the dev team, Plexamp is by far my favorite music interface for navigation, organization, and playback that I’ve ever had since I started digitizing my music collection in the '90s, and it’s definitely the “coolest” looking. I particularly like how the interface (and the progress bar line) adapt to the color theme of the album art.
Loudness leveling is something I’ve always wanted to use, and Sweet Fades is something I’m curious about (although would probably not have on most of the time), but my aversion to the seekprint means I’ve always shutdown the analysis as soon as I can, to keep that clean, simple, straight line on the progress bar.
Wow, already? Well, I definitely appreciate your consideration for my very niche preference.
In that case, I look forward to Sweet Fades and loudness leveling.
Thank you!
Here comes another annoying question/request…
Are there any plans to add this customizing option to Plex Dash?
Moving forward with analyzing my libraries has shown me that the seekprint appears in Plex Dash as well.
