Disappearing Music/Artists

Plex Server Version#:4.145.1 for Mac OS
Mac OS: 15.3.2
Synology DSM : 7.2.2-72806

Help, I cannot get my music library to stay in Plex

I have approximately, 1808 Artists in my media music folder. Media/Music/Artist/Album/Track(s). is how it’s formatted. The Folder exists on a Synology NAS DS1821+

I spend about 1 month cleaning this folder using Beets MusicBrainz to Tag every track Folder and Artist with Metadata. It’s as clean and pure as I know how to make it. Prior to cleaning the folder up I also had these same issues described below. I figured cleaning up the music would have done the trick but I still experience the below issues.

When I add the Music folder (Hosted on the NAS) to the Plex Media server (hosted on a Mac mini) It starts out complete with 1808 Artists added. When the process is complete, about 24-36 hours later. Everything is good. As soon as the next schedule scan (Daily about 2 am) happens almost half of the Artists just Disappear. It drops from 1808 or 972 Artists. The Media folder itself still contains every artist, Plex is just dumping half of it and no longer recognizing half of them. Re-scanning the library doesn’t change anything.

I have tried handing Plex portions of the Library at a time, waiting for the scanning and completion for each portion, and the result is the same, dumping half the artists. I have done the Plex Dance and still the same result. I am at a complete loss why Plex brings every artist into the Library and then dumps half of them.

Please somebody, help!!

Hello.

This seemed to work. Now my library s staying correct and up to date.

With Mac OS cacheing the NAS directories, it does not save all entries. Follow the guides to turn cacheing off and any request to NAS files will only use what’s on the drive and no cached directories. Fixed a host of issues I was having.
