Disappearing stations

HI, just found plexamp not long ago, and so far I am really liking it. I have literally only used winamp for music for the last twenty some years. So, when I heard plex was trying to do a ‘version’ of winamp I was hyped. It’s great I love it, and so far only 2 issues I have with the program in regards to a suitable replacement for winamp.

  1. No easily accessible volume slider. With winamp I can walk by my entertainment center and flick my mouse wheel to adjust volume easily. With plexamp I gotta wake up the screen and dig for it.
  2. I have been listening to Ambient Radio for the last 3 days. My collection has a lot of this. This morning I went to put my station on and its gone. Poof not there any more. So is this a common problem? If I find another station I like what are the odds it disappears?
Other than that I love the program, and will definitely continue to use it. The volume thing while minor really is my biggest issue with it.
Would also like to be able to add a url for an internet radio station. No matter how much I love my own collection, sometimes I just need some groove salad, would be nice to be able to do everything in one place, like winamp. Thanks, and keep up the great work!

  1. You can set custom keybindings for PlexAmps own volume control. Look in the settings.

  2. That’s very weird. The only thing I can think of is that you have 50 other stations that have more content? PlexAmp will show the 50 largest stations. Maybe also try refresh metadata on your music (not rescan).

Cool I’ll poke around in the settings for this. As far as the station that makes perfect sense. I had just added some new content and I guess was just enough to bump it out of the list. Thanks for the reply!

Edit your music library,
go to the ‘Advanced’ tab
scroll down to “Genres”

The Genre radios will only appear if this is set to “Embedded Tags”.
When it’s set to “Plex Music”, you will get Style radios instead. (Styles are derived from allmusic.com metadata.)

This is the expected behaviour, but currently Genre radios will only appear in Plexamp if this is set to “None”. Genre tags will be populated from embedded tags.
