PlexAmp Stations Not working on Android

Server Version#: Version 1.23.4.4712
Player Version#:3.4.7
Samsung S20 49,656 Tracks 339 Genres 278 Styles 345 Moods

Really haven’t had a lot of luck in the past with PlexAmp but I thought I would give it another chance.
If I search for an album it plays it ok with no issues.
However NONE of the “Stations” work. I get a tick and the message “Couldn’t start Playback”
Any suggestions?

Radios need “popularity” data.
These can only be downloaded if your music library is using “Plex Music” scanner+agent.
Additionally, the download of “Popular Tracks” data must not be disabled.

That’s what I have I think.

Where is the download of “Popular Tracks” data setting?

Just scroll down on the same page.

Do you mean put a tick in " Popular Tracks Load popular track data, which powers radio stations and the popular tracks area."

Precisely.

I remember your old forum thread well.
I think either something is seriously wrong with your Plex database file,
or you have an internet filter which is preventing Plex from contacting the necessary servers from which it can download these metadata.

I am not sure what you mean by an internet filter?
Plexamp tells me have have 339 genres, so surely that means it’s seeing them as when I go to the Genres section in Plexamp app , not only does it list all the genres it lists all the albums with that Genre and lets me select the album, and tracks ok from there as per the attached pictures.
it’s just the Radio section that doesn’t work.

I would be suprised if my database file is faulty as this is a complete new install from scratch on the NAS as of last week. (Hence me trying out PlexAmp again)
If it is faulty how can check this new data base is faulty?

Then it could have something to do with your server or your local network setup.

I can only ask again for logs.
Server with debug logging enabled,
Try to start a radio
then fetch logs both from server and plexamp.

Where should I email the logs?

Please zip them and send them to me as PM.

Thanks for the logs! I will forward them for analysis.

There is no popularity data in the library, confirmed.

There’s also no tv.plex.agents.music.log file, so that probably means you’re on the old system and need to upgrade your library.

Not sure how it can be an old system as it was completely fresh install 10 days ago, I just assumed that I could just download PlexAmp it and it would work like the Plex app does.
But not withstanding that, what do I have to do to get the app working?

Was your music library already on “Plex Music” scanner+agent when you created it?
And were “Popular Tracks” activated too?
If you only changed and/or enabled them only later (when the library was already scanned), then you’ll have to Refresh Metadata and wait for all artists to be converted and updated.

It is also important to look for possible filters in your internet connection. Some users were using an incomplete list of host names which are related to plex in their filters. But because the list was incomplete, they were missing out on certain metadata. Make sure you don’t use a hard coded hosts or the like.

Your first paragraph makes total sense - I will start a refresh now.
Really not sure what you mean in the second paragraph though.
All I did was install the Synology operating system using the Synology assistant onto the NAS and then install Plex.
I can access Plex remotely and it works fine on the Plex App.
I don’t know how to set up a filter on the NAS, and if there is one then it must have been set up by Synology as I haven’t changed any of the system settings.
But thanks for your on-going support - it is appreciated.

*************** YES IT WORKS! *****************

Just starting refreshing all the Metadata and already it’s working with the few albums that have been scanned so far.
Thank you SO much for your Suggestions!
It still seems a lot of hassle to get it working, but it does work AT LAST

Glad you have it finally sorted out!

All the settings I told you are defaults in an up-to-date server version, btw.
If you create a fresh server and music library without manipulating any settings, you’ll get exactly what you need for all of this to work.
