So we moved to a new house and internet wont be set up for another 3 weeks . I can not get plex to work on a roku or android device without internet.
Yes I have tried to find answers on my own nothing seems to work . I paid for a year of plex premium and it has worked flawlessly up to this point . Just kind of disappointed.
I have read that article and there seems to be no reason why I cant watch videos on my server on any device using a tp link router . I have disabled secure connections. The only way to view any media on my server is to use VLC player which doesn’t have a roku port at all in turn each video has to be loaded onto a flash drive and then plugged into the roku.
Do you have an option to get a mobile internet option from your ISP until they have the regular connection going?
Another temporary workaround could be sharing the internet connection from your mobile – some routers support “extending” e.g. the WIFI provided by your mobile when it acts as a hotspot. Unless you’re like rebuilding your library and downloading tons of metadata, Plex should only check your account’s authorization… that shouldn’t eat too much data from your mobile’s data plan.
Both options aren’t great but could help bridging the next 3 weeks for you ![]()
PS: I’ve been there 2 years ago when our local ISP took 4 months to get my DSL up and running
Sign out from your server. If you can’t authenticate Plex Web to do that, then you can brute force it. https://support.plex.tv/articles/204281528-why-am-i-locked-out-of-server-settings-and-how-do-i-get-in/
