I think I’ve seen similar posts like this in the past. My girlfriend and I were about to watch a movie together, she’s remote and wanted to watch a trailer for the movie I suggested first. When searching, what looks like an adult film was being advertised, I do not own this media, and “Pink Curtain” is no where near close to what was searched… Why is this showing up? I have zero adult media on my server whatsoever…
Could it be a mismatch? I haven’t had this specific problem (something being mistaken for adult content) but I’ve had something completely mismatched to something that’s not even similar (Cannot match XIII movie) and in that case it mismatched a movie that was supposed to be a mini series.
You might have to Fix Match to get it to be correctly listed.
Take a look at the title of this hub.
It’s called “Popular Searches On Plex”. Which means it’s listing frequently searched media by other Plex free media users. This is just intended to give impulses for what to watch next.
This list has nothing to do with content on your own server.
Your search result must either be above of it or there were no hits.
I have tried to find the title Pink Curtain but couldn’t find it on watch.plex.tv
This was mentioned as an original concern when Discover first launched.
I personally think that Plex will have a difficult time properly managing this problem as NR content is not labeled and tagged correctly in the first place on those sites, so when Plex pulls in the data, everyone of us gets screwed over.
Discover apparently has no means of coming out of BETA yet.
Notice how it’s labeled with just Drama and Romance
Nothing indicates that the film is adult themed or perhaps categorized as sexual content at all.
The tagging/categorizing is very poor and content that’s Not Rated, with the addition to these poorly tagged/labeled film categories allow for this stuff to infiltrate into the Plex ecosystem.
Yes, partially correct and as you know that defines the search scope, it does not stop the content showing up in discover or within the parts of plex which cannot be disabled, like discover credits.
Regardless, the person who created the OP has been educated. They may not like it (maybe they do) but at least they know what and why it happened.
Just want better controls to exclude NR content from the hubs… Period. This content bubbles up on trending etc without executing any searches, I also believe it is geographic, so when users in my country search for questionable NR content, bam we all get questionable NR trends and recommendations.
I really like Discover and Search, it’s just one area which still bugs me. I wish I could filter them and still enjoy Discover section, don’t want to disable it.
Plex, please do something.
Is there any way to disable the “Popular Searches on Plex” feature? As reported here, it is only showing up adult content, and my family members are refusing to use Plex because of this since there are kids under 18. Since I have a lot of media on my server, the search functionality is essential.
That would disable it completely though and “More Ways to Watch” is really fantastic, I like it.
If team can filter those results then everyone can continue enjoying it without disabling Search or Discover as it’s affected on both sadly.
