Is it possible to ask plex to just display folder content, with no constraints on file or folder naming, folder organisation, etc… ?
When I try “Others videos” category (so with Plex Video Files Scanner and Personal Media agent) when I add library, it is not working (some content are not found or parsing never ended…)
Other Videos is the way to go. Movie libraries will ignore files labeled like for shows (“S01E02.mp4”), while TV Show libraries will ignore most files NOT marked like an episode of a show. Both will really care about folder/file naming, and will automatically match them against online sources. I highly recommend you use Plex’s organization method as it pretty much how everyone agrees it should be.
But if you don’t want it, then Make an Other Videos library. It should work, not taking forever, and should not skip anything. We can try to help you figure out why something isn’t showing up in Other Videos if you want.

Yes I agree to understand why I meet this issue.
I want to add my download folder, to immediately access to file that I don’t have the time to well format name.
Inside this folder, each file are typically inside it proper folder, with name containing lots of information about file as langage, quality…
Maybe you need log, no problem to see it, but I don’t see anything inside console. Maybe I have to enable debugging log ?
Is this folder on the same computer as the server?
(A Nas server with a drive you download to? )
(A Windows/Mac computer server with the downloads folder local to the computer?)
If not, Plex won’t notice the new file until it does a regular scan (or you manually scan). Try going to Settings > Settings/Library and enable the “Scan my library periodically” checkmark if it isn’t already. Lower it as much as you dare.
Yes, folder is on the same computer than server.
Plex server is on a raspberry pi, and library is on external drive connected to raspberry by usb.
Hmmm. Would you care to give us the name of one of the files that isn’t being found? Perhaps Plex is combining them into one file, if you use one of the “split-movie” naming conventions, as seen here.
Don’t do it if you are concerned about publicly outing the filename here on the forums.
I find the problem : because I download with a tool that is not launch with same user than plex server, when I download a new file it doesn’t have good permissions. My problem come from here. I magane to scan the folder now.
