Why would they do this… they seem on a mission to make it less user friendly. The badge made it easy to see at a glance.

It is a recent change to Plex Web. For movies, the badge is still displayed at the library level, but not on the details page. On the details page, look for “Versions” above video/audio/subtitles information. Should be similar for TV shows.
