I wish the badges would come back for Movies as well. I often have 4k and blu-ray quality versions for some films, and seeing at a glance which have 2-3 versions of the same film help me realize if i have 4k/blu-ray/dvd versions or not. Hiding this is a step backward for me and I wish plex would bring it back.
I am quite disappointed that Plex has not commented on this actually very simple issue. I mean, add a tickbox to the settings under Library as an advanced setting and done… a handful of people are happy - the code already exists… it is not like it would need to be developed…
Having said that a few years ago there was an option to sort by the number of versions which I thought was super useful too, and that has never returned either
… very sad…
@Plex - we would really appreciate if someone could comment!
It is sad that, at least for admins, the use of Plex has become more complex due to the design decisions that have been made. At least give us the option to enable/disable the function please?
Not only that the badge is missing but in my Android TV clients you do not get any info about additional versions that I can see. So the only way to tell is try the Play version or looking at the info under edit.
First Post ever!
I felt compelled to add my voice! Killing the duplicates badge on posters was a terrible mistake. Why would you even consider doing such a thing? Bring it back!
Bring Back the Multiple versions badge!!
I personally think this is one of the most annoying of their “improvements” in quite some time.
I used it regularly.
Add a bunch of new media.
Now convert the new content to my preferred format, then put the converted copies into place, and the badge would help me keep track of what I am doing.
Also extremely useful when moving content around, as I’ll be able IMMEDIATELY see if an item has matched to the original correctly or not.
For anyone who is interested, there is a vote on the go to have this feature returned…
The final straw. That was the most important feature for me since I use RSS to add content and very often end up with multiple versions of a title. I used the badge to quickly identify duplicates and delete them. Plex keeps removing features and refusing to add much-needed features in spite of YEARS of requests for them. I’ve absolutely had it with the morons that run Plex. Time to find an alternative.
it seems the info that there are two versions is no longer visible anywhere. not if you enter the series, not even if you enter the episode page. same for movies.
all that you can do is go to get info which then will show the files behind the title.
this is rubish. people using *arr apps end up with multiple versions all the time and the number made it so much easier to find what to remove in order to save space.
Please bring the badge back. You have made library management so much more difficult with this feature turned off. @plex
Yes, totally agree please bring this back.
As far as I am aware the plan is to add them back but I unfortunately do not have an ETA
@BigWheel … That is fantastic news. Many thanks for letting us know

I really can’t understand the motivation for these changes. Never understood a feature removal in software industry, except when you want to intentionally jeopardize your product when it has reached the critical mass after years squeezing your customers and you can’t obtain more new customers so you decided to screw up your product to make your existing customers leave and cut costs in maintenance. Is this the long term plan? This is one more in the list of features that are broken or disappeared for years and years and years. We’re still waiting for a solution when Plex Mobile simply won’t sync files. And like this, many more.
VERY glad to see this coming back as I agree, I don’t at all understand why you’d remove a feature like this that’s been around for years. Seemed very arbitrary and very frustrating. Also bizarre to me that only last week did this change go into effect on my server/client, I see it’s in the patch notes from back in March but as I’ve installed 10 updates since then (looking at my patches directory) not sure why it only just changed for me.

still not back, come on now.
really! how long is this going take?
It’s not like we are asking for something new, just a return to the way it was.
I am rebuilding a server and it is real pain that the indicator is not there.
I’m glad it’s gone, it was annoying to see it on every movie in my library. I always get a 1080 and 4K file for every movie and seeing that badge was pointless for my library.
My library has some 3D versions of movies along with their non 3D version. How would Plex know which one i’d want to play - it doesn’t.
I usually want to check for duplicates to see if i’m accidentally consuming unnecessary space. Haven’t really seen anyone mention the Duplicates filter option here which i use all the time, but SURELY in THIS view, it would make sense to have the badge showing how many duplicate versions of each title you have - that’s why we’re in this view! Instead you need to drill into the Info section to look at the file paths. For me being able to filter by Duplicates is sufficient for me to be able to keep tabs on these titles, but it’s about how individuals use it in different ways, so just add a toggle instead of moving backwards.
Logged into my server today to do a quick count and clean up any dupe films, something which up until now has been really easy - only to find out there was an update which removed the ability to see how many duplicates per film I had… all of which is now buried inside another menu… INCREDIBLY IRRITATING - Please bring this feature back or at least give people an option to toggle it on or off.
Any update you can provide? I’d love to update my server, but won’t until the duplicates badge is back.
