…why the use of years in music is so messed up in Plex currently. Listening to 90s grunge. Turn on DJ Contempo for some era appropriate songs. I get Day in the Life by the Beatles (from 1996 compilation)…then Ramble On by Zeppelin (1990 reissue)…then Tiny Dancer by Elton John.
Plex has to do something about song years or else decade radio and anything year related has no real meaning. Earliest song release date should be used for any year based radio. I think allmusic has that info for the most part?
DJ Contempo is definitely pulling in compilations. I just played a Pearl Jam playlist and next song with DJ Contempo was Heard it through the grapevine by Marvin Gaye (Greatest Hits album from 1995 correctly marked by Plex as a compilation - song originally released 1968). So that definitely needs to be looked at.
Good to hear about the potential metadata updates.
Just tried a counting Crows playlist and next song from DJ Contempo was Ain’t to proud to beg from temptations ultimate collection (1997). Actual song much earlier than that…
Contempo grabs tracks from +/- a few years from the seed track. Looks like you started with Counting Crows / Walkaways, which is from 1996. I see the request asked for 26album.subformat!%3DCompilation which means it tried to exclude compilations. Check in the web app and see if it’s listed as such.
