DLNA Server

How to I activate my Plex to be a DLNA server? I can’t seem to work it out via the settings menus.

You check the Enable the DLNA server box and hit save at the bottom.

I suggest also disabling DLNA server timeline reporting depending on the DLNA client it can cause problems. Since many DLNA clients play things to create thumbnails which end up making the server think you actually watched some of it

You may need to restart server.

I may be being completly stupid, however I can’t even find the “Enable the DLNA server box”.

Is “mediabox” something extra?

That is the name I gave to my Plex Media Server. Yours will say whatever your server’s name is.

I am being stupid, I need to create a Media Server for the DLNA?

Yes. Our DLNA server is built into the Plex Media Server. It controls the media sent to whichever DLNA player you are using.

DLNA is a very basic media server. Various apps have it built in. Our Plex Media Server is much more robust but we include a DLNA server in it since some folks have basic DLNA players that are often built into devices like TVs, receivers, etc that may not be able to run a Plex player app.

Cool, I just now need to find a way to link it to the Chromebook.

Sorted

I apologise for this next question. Why does my sever show as offline?

Where does it show this? ( take a screenshot if you need to) If you mean in the remote access settings that need to be set up to access the server with a Plex app when not at home. ( DLNA cannot be accessed remotely )
