Do I need a plex pass to sync media from somebody elses server?

Hi All,
Just wondering - Do I need a Plex Pass to sync media from another persons server? The server owner has Plex Pass, however I currently do not.

EDIT: I’ve tried to do it, but the “sync” just sits constantly at waiting for download.
The server owner says his server works fine, and that it’s my end that’s the problem and I need a Plex Pass, however I don’t think this is correct.

As long as the server owner has a plexpass and has enabled sync for you, you do not need a plexpass subscription
