Do Plex Pass subscribers have ads?

I have a lifetime Plex Pass (which was worth every cent, by the way), and I heard today about Plex News being added. It hasn’t arrived on my server yet (gonna have to update manually when I get home, most likely), but I was just wondering-
Plex News is ad-supported, but do Plex Pass subscribers have to deal with those ads? I’m pretty sure that if not, then that would be another nice little plus to having a Plex Pass.

News is not Plex Pass related. Everyone has ads. We will explore mote option in the future but this was the most clear way to be able to make them free for everyone.

It is not tied to your server. You don’t even need a server. You might need to restart the app for it to show up.

Wtf…there’s ads in plex now??

It’s a way for Plex to make more money. Bring it out to everyone and Plex gets paid per view. Such a shame

We don’t need it, free or not. Just take it away. You guys should focus more on fixing existing bugs instead of making Plex a bloatware.

Free for everyone? What the @#/% is a paid pass for then? Are you new? Apps that have ads are free, you get rid of ads by paying.

If I wanted ads or news on a media server/play-back interface, I’d just watch TV.

Has someone bought stock in Emby? It seems the current mission statement of Plex, is to see how many long time users, it can drive there.

A plex pass is for the additional features you pay for as outlined https://www.plex.tv/features/plex-pass/ please show me where is says it removes ads

I thought a Plex pass was paying to be a beta tester; but it seems we all are beta testers now. . . :*

And it says nothing about ads because until this “news” fiasco; there were no ads and should be no ads.

The Plex Pass page says nothing about ad because paying for a Plex Pass doesn’t get rid of them.

@BigWheel And where did it say we would have them? I signed up to have a media centre program for a HTPC. I didn’t think I would have to deal with possible commercials running during my own shows/movies.

Just to be clear… is the future planned goal of Plex, to have commercials and advertising inserted within the personal media users watch using your systems?

Answer this so your userbase knows where they stand in the future.

Maybe I’m looking at this wrong, and this only has to do with News… if so clarify.

If you are actually seeing commercials during you own files that is a bug. That should never happen.

This forum section is about the News feature where there are ads every 7 minutes or so between News clips and what I and the original poster was talking about. That is the forum section you are commenting in so did not feel the need to clarify.

I am getting a PLEX ad between every news item…that’s almost every 3 minutes a PLEX ad …how do I get rid of that!! I already have PLEX!! bizarre trying to sell your own product in something I already own…

I don’t understand why I have a Plex pass then or why there is one at all when I have to watch advertising now. What’s this about?

Plex has always been very clear as to what a Plex Pass covers. See the support article:

Yes of course, I also think that the Plex pass is worth every cent, I definitely don’t want to complain here. But I am of the opinion that if I pay money for a page to support it with the fact that I get accordingly no advertisement indicated
