Does Plex retrieves metadata from both IMDB and TMDB references?

Hello there!
I am organizing my media library for PMS and would like to get some help from community. Most of my library contains Blu-ray rips from the disks that I have bought for last decade. I simply ripped in the MKV format without any encoding or editing.

I renamed most of the media like this based on this article https://support.plex.tv/articles/naming-and-organizing-your-movie-media-files/:

Directory: Frantic (1988) {imdb-tt0095174} {tmdb-10675}
File: Frantic (1988) {imdb-tt0095174} {tmdb-10675} - 1080p.mkv
File: Frantic (1988) {imdb-tt0095174} {tmdb-10675} - 4K.mkv

Ask:
Does Plex retrieves metadata from both IMDB and TMDB references?
Does Plex gives preference to IMDB since it was listed first?

Any further advise/suggestions would be very helpful!

Please choose one or the other.

You will confuse it.

The common outcome of this type behavior is “last one encountered wins”
but is NOT a guarantee.

It has been my experience:

  1. Media named properly before inserting into PMS monitored folders
  2. Works every time - the first time - with no bad matches.

If curious, I have an example list of files (about 350,000 long)

The new agent/scanner is a consolidation of metadata from multi sources so your never picking one or the other. Those tags are only used for matching so just pick one.

Awesome! That makes sense. I haven’t installed PMS yet and preparing my library for best experience with PMS.

That would be fantastic! I can’t wait to install PMS on my Synology today. I will update my library with single tag only then.

Thanks to both of you!

Do not install the version of Plex in Synology Package Center. It is outdated. Download the current version from Plex (link at bottom of page), and perform a manual installation.
