Does Plex Support SMB2/3 on the NVIDIA SHIELD?

Server Version#: 1.24.4.5081
Player Version#: 8.25.1.28703

I’m using a NVIDIA SHIELD TV 2015 as my Plex Media Service. I have a Synology NAS DS418j attached to a local network. Been using Plex for many years and I have set up the file protocol SMB1 since that was the only option with the android device. Plex has been running slow lately and sometime movies won’t start and I have to try repeatedly to get it to work on the SHIELD. All other devices have no problems.
I recently found out that the SHIELD now support SMB2/3 so I changed the file protocol to SMB2/3. Now Plex crashes constantly on the SHIELD and all other devices are extremely slow, much worse than on SMB1.
I just need to know what the deal is and what SMB I should be using.
Also, when I make a SMB change, do I have to wait a long while for everything to repopulate or something?
I’m getting to my limit here and if I can’t figure this out, I’ll be dropping Plex altogether. I loved Plex more than any other streaming services and I want to keep using it, but it’s getting quite bad and worse with every update. Not sure what to do here. Please help!
