I’ve had a lifetime PlexPass for about a year and a half now, and in the past few months have finally migrated my music from iTunes to Plex. Game changer! Anyway, I’ve looked at Tidal before but didn’t want to add another monthly subscription. Just yesterday I saw that they now offer a free version. I’ve subscribed, gotten set up on Tidal.com, and linked my Plex account (Account → Other Services). Tidal is showing as linked, but it doesn’t show up in my Plex app. I’ve tried unlinking and relinking, reauthorizing, logging out of Tidal and unlinking/relinking, reauthorizing, pretty much doing every version of jiggling the handle that I can think of. I know they’re still rolling the free tier out to the Android app (hasn’t shown up for me yet), so that may be related. But is there something I’m missing, or is the free tier not supported in Plex?

The free Tidal service is restricted to the USA for now and it is ad-based.
I assume the Plex integration is not ready to cope with the ad interruptions.
Plus, it would very likely mean more usage data sharing with advertising partners of Tidal.
So I assume this will probably not be possible very soon in Plex.

Thanks for the reply. I don’t have any experience on the server side, so you’ve pointed out some things that I didn’t know would be an issue. I guess I’ll keep test-driving the free tier and see if it entices me to upgrade!
