Does Vanilla have privacy settings?

Are there settings for allowing only certain people to PM me? I’ve seen such a setting in other forums, but I can’t find one in Vanilla.

There are no anti-spam measures against PMs that I know of.

Is this such a big problem for you?
Are these complaints, unrequited Plex sharing requests or just support questions?
Against the latter two, some of us Ninjas have a note in our forum signatures. You might wanna try it.

No, it’s not a huge problem. I’ve had a couple PM me with support questions. It made me think about privacy options. If it continues, I’ll consider the signature note. Thanks.

I have an issue with my account email being posted in open discussion form webpages? I have scoured the settings and forums but cant figure out how to change it to show a username or something… This is a problem.!

I need to remove my email from the forum threads. Does Vanilla have any kind of setting for this?

Change your Plex user name to something which doesn’t incorporate your email address here: https://plex.tv/users/edit

then hit this URL https://forums.plex.tv/sso

I have a username that is not my email address - montys. I had tried to upate the settings with an empty email address, but the page wouldnt allow it. Basically the system is using my email over my username. I even changed the email address to another and the original one is still being used (like in this very post).

Not sure why the email is hanging around. Thinking it might be stored in cookies I removed all my plex cookies but still the email address persists

yes I did! It takes me to the forums as expected… but I dont see any change in the behavior.

It appears the plex user name montys is already in use by a different user.
When you went to https://plex.tv/users/edit it should have told you so in red text below the input field for the plex user name.
Could you please re-check?
Maybe a screenshot after entering your desired username and hitting ‘Update’ might be helpful.

Definitely needs to be implemented, I get quite a lot of these, obviously doesn’t help to be helpful on the forums!!! Usually I just delete the conversation without reading it.

you cannot merge accounts. accounts cannot have the same username or password.

Please close all your browser windows ( or use an incognito window ) log into https://plex.tv with your “montys” account after you do that go to https://forums.plex.tv in the same window. you may have to click the sign in button on forums tell me then what your forum username shows as.
