Why does every inquiry to retrieve metadata from a site like thetvdb need to first pass through plex.tv? It’s pointless when all the files it retrieves are hosted on their site, but won’t work unless it first phones home to tvdb2.plex.tv just so it can taddle on what we’re watching.
hahahahahaha. Tattle on what you are watching?
That’s what it reports to plex.tv. If it’s so hilarious, then don’t do it. Respect our right to opt out in the settings.
On top of this, the server phones home multiple times on startup despite unchecking the options to share data or auto update. It phones home to Plex whenever you run the manager, and constantly connects while running.
That’s bullshit. When we uncheck the box, it shouldn’t continue connecting to their company servers.

Plex runs a proxy of thetvdb site. This allows plex usage to not overload the API of the regular thetvdb site
