When using mp4box.
-add path/to/atmos.mp4:lang=eng
Though I couldn’t get plex to even play the file, it wouldn’t even transcode it.

Thank you . such an info or the command I was missing. I will test it.
Works great thx
Any update on this?
I sent all information to the DVDFab team so we might have less work in the future. Would be great if DVDFab does everything in one step and creates a perfect rip with HD sound and chapters. Let’s wait … we hope for the best.
I was asking @sixones since he said TrueHD atmos support could be coming in a 7.26 release.
My post did not relate to your question. It is only a contribution to the general info.
That it is possible or made possible is great but the way there is quite cumbersome with FFmepg and mp4box. With the HD sound is indeed a little work, manually create chapters ect. it already annoying. Hope DVDFab will make it possible in one step.
If Plex then integrates TrueHD and generally eliminates his problem with the sound passthrough, the world is almost perfect.
No update yet I’m afraid, I’m hoping to take a look soon though.
So Dolby Vision is supposed to work in the current release available on the Shield or is it only in a Beta now? I tested it yesterday and could get Dolby Vision to show up on my LG C9 TV, but not on the Shield (2019 Pro).
The new beta version of Plex works with single layer (profile 5) Dolby Vision .mp4s.
You probably were trying a dual layer (profile 7) Dolby Vision file.
Hi, no he is trying to use a Single layer in the public release.
Regards.
Sorry for the n00b question: How can tell the difference between single and dual layer profiles?
And I am using the public release, not the beta. Guess I’ll have to wait for the beta to go public.
If you look at the file in mediainfo you will see 2 video streams listed for a dual layer, a single layer will have just one that has had both streams interleaved.
Plex beta is available to anyone with Plex pass.
On this topic, is there any difference in the quality produced by Single & Dual layer Dolby Vision mp4s?
Please find the correct answer by @DaMacFunkin
Why do people keep saying this?
What are you referring to?
That single layer DV is 10 bit. Dual layer is also 10 bit, it is 2 10 bit streams that the DV decoder extracts the information from to deliver a 12 bit picture, which all DV TVs dither down time their native display bit type.
Single layer has all the information required in interleaved stream to extract the 12 bit picture, what it loses is the ability to be played in HDR via non DV capable players.
I suggest that he refers to my posting.
According to this manual my answer might be wrong … but I’m not an expert

However, if @DaMacFunkin know’s the truth, he is invited to bring light into the darkness
But this is off-topic
From what I have read, 12bit DV can be processed from an 8 bit 4:4:4 signal or a 10 bit 4:2:2 signal, the ‘12 bit’ signal is extracted and processed by the Decoder and displayed in 10 bit, which is actually what Dolby advise as optimal viewing, now if you listen to so called experts they will tell you that dual layer isn’t true 12 bit as it is still interoperable. So I think we are talking about snake oil really.
