Done something to mess up my settings

Server Version#:1.41.5.9522
Player Version#:Roku Plex app 7.31 build 7
<If providing server logs please do NOT turn on verbose logging, only debug logging should be enabled>
So I’m totally sure what I’ve done but I’m certain I’ve done something. My server was running fine but for some strange reason I decided to tweak some of my settings don’t know why as didn’t really understand what I was doing and the effects it may have. Initally this only affected those trying to watch 2160 files where it would constantly load then play for a few seconds then load etc. I saught some advice and made a few alterations but still the issue persisted. At this point I decided I would delete my server build and start again from scracth as I was getting so stressed and worked up.

Sadly this didn’t work, in fact it only seemed to give me the same issue plus some new ones to add to my woes. So I use W11 PC that is running NordVPN, I use a Roku Streaming Stick 4k (NOT running VPN) for my own viewing. Friends use Roku Express & Express 4k

Issues

  1. When I originally set up my server I didn’t have to do the port forwarding thing I’ve heard about it just worked out of the box so to speak. Now it seems the only way I can see my server on my Roku is if I pause my VPN connection this is the same for those I share server with. Although right now it says Remote Access is not available outside of my network - but the server shows up in my Plex app on Roku.
  2. Users I’ve granted access to are now unable to watch any file that is in 2160 used to just convert it to what ever size was playable for that user. The same file would play fine for me - To try and fix this a suggestion was I’d change something in the transcoder section. There are some things checked but I don’t know what should be and what shouldn’t. It would be good if there was a reset to default for all settings

Not sure what else to say about the issues I’m having that will help diagonse what I’ve done/how to remedy. Any help would be appreciated

I would start over with everything set back to the defaults, after a restart of all hardware once all software has been uninstalled. A clean install of the necessary SW on the HW, with everything in default, keep all media in the same location. You don’t say which HW is acting as the server, and which has the content, but if you have many 2160p content your storage will soon be consumed, BUT more importantly you might be asking a lot of the available resources if you are streaming 2160p content consistantly. cheers CD
