After changing my password as recommended due to the data breach, I saw this other new warning in the Plex Media Server settings to “claim my server”. But after doing so I couldn’t access it from the Windows 10 PC my server lives on or from any Roku devices (after re-linking them). After banging my head against fruitless internet searches, uninstalling media server, Plex recommend registry edits, multiple server and PC restarts, I tried unlinking all devices and the media server again. But this time I didn’t claim the server, and re-linked my devices again and it all works again! I can see my unclaimed media server from all my TV’s and on the PC it lives on. Bottom line for me, claiming the server serves no purpose other than hours of frustration and wasted time.
Are you sure your server and clients were all linked to the same account?
That doesn’t sound right…
100% I only have 1 account and 1 Plex server.
This is not how Plex works so you’re missing something.
Yeah, doesn’t make sense to me either. But it worked for me and I wanted to share my work around in case there are others out there with the same issue. This may work for them too.
Also, worth noting, I do not have a Plex Pass.
Are you sure you are currently operating an unclaimed server?
Yes the warning is still there, I just ignore it now.
