Don't see "local" server after installation

Server Version#: 1.41.7.9823-59f304c16
Player Version#:

Hi.

I did a fresh install of plex on Proxmox LXC.
I can access the webinterface fine, but there is no way for me to add the actual server, i.e. local media.
The interface I see when opening the local plex webinterface is exactly the same as if I go via plex.tv.

how can I register the server to plex? I simply can’t find anything to add in any settings (even the settings page looks the same)
I do have plex lifetime

Make sure you’re accessing the server locally — that’s using the server’s local IP from within the same subnet.

If your fresh install just refers to the executables, the server might still be linked to the previous installation.

Thanks for the feedback.
I did access the server locally and (just out of curiosity) tried again in an incognito browser session.
Then I get the typical “You have no access to this server”.

I tried the suggested troubleshooting steps, but my Preferences.xml file does not contain the information listed. It only contains MachineIdentifier, ProcessedMachineIdentifier, AnonymousMachineIdentifier,MetricsEpoch and GlobalMusicVideoPathMigrated.

I checked networking and everything is fine. I can ping various hosts by ip and name. doing a curl on plex.tv gives me a 308 Permanent redirect so that works as well.

Looks like the server component simply doesn’t properly talk to plex for the claim process.

Are you re-using an old Proxmox instance?
If so, you should be able to open a shell into the LXC and use UserCredentialReset utility to attempt to reclaim it.

Yeah … that did it (despite that it was a fresh installation and not a reused lxc).

Thanks so much @tom80H
