Don't see Plex in Android Auto

I have a version of Plex that was purchased through Amazon Appstore. However, I don’t see Plex while in Android Auto. If I uninstall and reinstall through Google Play, I can see the app in Android Auto, but it’s limited because it’s not unlocked. Do I have any options here?

Google limited the apps that are shown in Android Auto. To use the Amazon Appstore version there is a workaround.

  • you need to enable developer mode in Android Auto, you’ll need to Google this
  • set the app to allow unknown source
  • run the Plex app at least once after doing the above
  • restart Android Auto

You should now see Plex as an option now.
