Are downloads restricted to Plex Pass holders now? My friend has lost the download option on the Android app on his tablet today after having it just a few days ago. I’ve checked on my end and downloads are allowed for him but it has disappeared for him for some reason. I’ve got Plex installed at the latest version with a lifetime pass and he’s running the latest version of the Android app.

Downloads for most users does require Plex Pass for the person downloading. However we did grandfather those where the server owners and downloader user accounts were created before a date when we changed that. If you friend is using the new version of the app released a couple days ago then there is an issue with it not respecting the grandfathering which we are currently fixing.
Today’s update should fix the problem that „grandfathered accounts“ were no longer able to download items to the mobile apps.
I have the same problem. I just got a new iPad, and now downloads don’t work and there is no download button. There is also no place to upgrade and restore the purchase of my pass from 2020
This did not help me. I got a new iPad yesterday and was forced to this new version. I have an an account from 2020 and a server I use with Plex Pass.
Now Downloads don’t work on my iPad with the new client. Timing is poor as I am traveling.
Plex could at least give my account a free plex pass subscription until this works right.
I am a have a lifetime Plex Pass and the latest version of the app on the Play Store. When trying to download to my Android tablet, I’m finding that a whole lot of my personal shows don’t have a download arrow icon. But some do. I can’t see a pattern, but all should be downloadable. Any ideas?
You cannot currently download seasons or shows with the updated apps for Android and iOS. It‘s listed as „to be added soon“.
Thank you for that information. I don’t have to voice my thoughts on it. Fortunately, I still have videos I downloaded with the old version but I trashed a bunch to make room for new files. I guess I’ll need to grab an old apk and prevent it from updating.

Has this definitely been rolled out? There is no option to update the app on the Play store on my friend’s device.
I all honesty, that grid is a work of poo. Didn’t explain much for me. Thanks for the effort though!
