I use Plex on my kids’ tablet for travel, where internet access isn’t always available (e.g., flights). To prepare, I sync a selection of kids’ movies to the device.
Previously, I relied heavily on smart playlists — for example, “Last 10 Family Movies Watched.” I would sync this playlist to the tablet so that, before each trip, I could simply refresh the sync and Plex would automatically pull down recently watched favorites.
Another common use case is a smart playlist of unwatched movies ranked by critic rating, allowing me to automatically sync the top 10 so there’s always something new to watch alongside manually synced titles.
With the new UI, it appears that syncing or downloading playlists and collections is no longer supported. This feature was extremely useful for managing offline content efficiently.
Please consider restoring or re-implementing the ability to sync playlists and collections in the new UI. It’s a major gap for those managing family devices, organize and automate their downloads.

I’m still continually frustrated that the old playlist / smart playlist sync feature is gone.
Knowing that the unwatched episodes of certain shows, or 20 recently added movies etc where always on my iPad was a life saver for travelling.
Now meticulous planning is required for a trip.
Also deleting one episode at a time rather than the auto delete after watching, adds another layer of frustration.
please please please sort it out
I think it was an incredibly poor decision to release not only a half baked product but one that has actively backtracked on features, to customers who have likely paid for these features in the first place.
I’m really trying to hold back on ranting.
but im soo disappointed in what has been a central part of my digital life for so long, being crippled to such an extent.

Yes. The syncing of unwatched episodes was, by far, one of the best features. Never had to worry about having media ready to go in case wifi wasn’t available. It’s been months since this feature has been lost. Please, please, please restore that ASAP. I can’t tell you how much this has eroded my otherwise positive experience with Plex.
Has there been any update?
I looked into the way that Plex is now doing sync/downloads. It’s no longer by Playlist/Show/Series number, but instead, each episode is downloaded individually on its own.
So if I have a playlist of 5 movies, the playlist wouldn’t sync… just the individual movies and there would be no tie back to playlist.
The way this appears to be implemented, this may not be a simple ask.
