I downloaded media player and launched it. When i try to get it to search my media on my pc it says i need to load plex media server but i just did ? why wont it launch to search my computer for my media ?
Did you actually download/install an instance of Plex Media Server and have it running?
If you did and this is a new setup… did you finish the installation by opening the server locally (e.g. by opening http://127.0.0.1:32400/web in your browser if you’re on the same machine)?
yes app is running. show tv shows etc. Last icon on list to the left is music the tidal icon. Shouldnt there be a icon for my media or my media libraries ? I had that icon then it wasnt there ? When the icon for my media was there and i selected it the next thing it says is that i need plex media server ? But i just loaded it and ran it ?
I loaded plex media server several times. it show the tv content and tidal music but not my libraries ? trying to get to search my computer for media files and wizard doesnt lead me there ?
Even tried to enter plex media player thu plexamp. Enter email and password then says you have successfully entered now close window. No icon to close window have to end task ?
Did you previously create your libraries on that server or is this about setting it up in the first place?
Also… did you possibly previously install a version of Plex Media Server on that machine using a different Plex account?
I guess there is no way to talk to plex tech. I appreciate any help this thing is taking me in circles . Had plex years ago then didnt use for years. I know it works great when set up ?
If you previously had an install on that machine, there might still be some leftover data, linking Plex to your old Plex account.
If you no longer have access to that Plex account, try following this guide on how to start from scratch (making Plex forget the old association). Make sure PMS is stopped when performing those steps and to delete the entries from your Windows registry (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Plex, Inc.) https://support.plex.tv/articles/201198426-restart-plex-media-server-setup-from-scratch/
