So I downloaded it and when I finished everything else, I booted up my plex and I takes to the the normal home menu and I clicked on the + sign (aka add media) it still says “Add your media to Plex, Get Plex Media Server” despite me already having the server.
I have previously had a Plex Media Server installed on that machine… and I tried fixing it and everything else to no sucess.
What Insomnic_1 posted…
Or (if you have the server installed) – you might not be accessing it through the bundled version of Plex Web. This is required in order to complete the setup. You can e.g. open the Plex Media Server using http://127.0.0.1:32400/web if you’re on the same Windows machine (http://[PMS IP address]:32400/web if it’s installed on a different device inside your home network).
@TaizoStimpy are you seeing the icon in the system tray? what happens when you go to http://127.0.0.1:32400/web on the same computer you installed plex to?
Did you have a previous installation of Plex Media Server on that machine which might have been linked to a different Plex account?
Can you try doing a full server uninstall – including the deletion of the server data directory and registry data… then reinstall and report if you still experience this issue.
If you go to the settings, left hand column and under general does it show a friendly name?
If so does that friendly name show up under authorized devices?
Lastly if you create a Library, and add media to it does that show up on the left? (at least for a short time or does it never actually add stuff to the server?)
if it’s still not working, please share the server logs – given in this case you won’t be able to access those from within the web app, you’ll need to lookup the Logs folder in the newly created server data directory (see path above; zip the folder and upload it).
