Hello!

I deleted alot of subtitles manually downloaded yesterday placed next to media files. However Plex apparently still sees them somehow so whenever a user starts a media with an old subtitle file. It just keeps loading forever and ever.

Line 30216: Sep 01, 2019 22:26:07.750 [7372] ERROR - Couldn't find the file to stream: J:\Tv-shows\Altered Carbon\Season 01\subs\Altered.Carbon.S01E03.WEBDL-1080p.x264.EAC3.webtiful.en.srt

Above is an error I found in the logs.

Is there any easy fix for this? - How do I delete theese subtitles from Plex?

Did you Refresh Metadata or re-scan the library after deleting the files? If you’ve done all that and the problem’s still there, go into the Settings/Troubleshooting area (Plex Web) and run Optimize Database and Clean Bundles.

Yes, I’ve done all of the above.

(Rescan, Refresh, Clean & Optimize) - Also tried restarting PMS

Try Analyze.
First on one episode, then on one season, last on the whole show.

Do also try Refresh Metadata for the whole show at once.

I’ve tried analyzing each episode, tried refresh metadata for each episode.
And the same for 1 of the seasons.

Nothing helps…

Picture of folder structure of one show

You forgot the whole show.

The screenshot is unfortunately not usable. It doesn’t show any file or folder names.

Well, there’s no other files then the media

Done the whole show aswell, not helping

Your “tv shows” library should point to J:\´Tv-shows alone.
Or are there other paths in there?
Edit your library, then go to the ‘Add Folder’ tab to verify this.

Is your drive pool healthy? Or are some drives not online?

Points directly to J:\Tv-shows
No other paths and the pool is healthy

Well, then there’s only the full Dance left:

I’ve not renamed anything. I’ve only removed all *.srt files.

Will the “Plex Dance” remove users watched history?

(Will it clear their “On deck”?)

Only if you changed the default metadata agent of your library.
If the show is recognized as the same show as before, every user’s “played” status will be retained.
The “danced” show will however appear as “recently added”.

Ok good,

I need to do this for my entire library then… Including Movies :frowning:

Is it somehow possible for me to edit a DB somewhere?
Really would’ve hoped there was another way tho

Try it with one show first.

Ok, so if I understand this correctly I should do the following:

  1. Move the map “Altered Carbon” outside of Tv-Shows
  2. Do a Scan Library Files by clicking Tv-Shows -> Scan inside Plex webb app
  3. Empty Trash by clicking Tv-shows -> Empty trash
  4. “[Clean Bundles] by going into Settings -> Troubleshooting
  5. Move files back
  6. Do a Scan Library Files by clicking Tv-Shows -> Scan inside Plex webb app

Correct? - And if it works I do the same but instead I just rename “Tv-Shows” to “Tv-Shows_old”? and do the same steps as above?

That won’t work. Plex won’t delete anything if the root folder of a library is a) missing b) completely empty.
You’ll have to create a new folder Tv-shows and put one small file into it. A .txt file will do it.
